A short survey
What are your thoughts about the anti-japanese protests going on right now?
The Japanese government hurts our feeling at all times. Our protests are justice, unless some take extreme actions.
Do you feel that they are triggered by anything in particular?
1. Textbooks whitewashing Japan’s atrocities during WWII;
2. Japan’s bid for a permanent U.N. Security Council seat;
3. Drilling rights in a disputed area of the East China Sea.
What do you personally think of the Japanese? As a people/culture? The government?
Generally the Japanese, like other people on the planet, live peacefully, and are the same friendly to neighbors. But of course a strong right wing still exists in its society.
Some Japanese just like to do abnormal things to make fun…(high working pressure?) As I have seen, the business men are usually too humble to be honest.
Do you think that the Chinese govt supports these protests (in moderation)?
It is acquiescent rather than supportive. This time the government behaves very well in front of the world, including Premier Wen Jiabao and Ambassador Wang Yi holding a steay standpoint all the way.
If there’s anything else you’d like to say about the issue, I’d be very interested to hear it.
Besides protests, the domestic enterprises should try their best to extend high quality products and services. That’s our way out.

Your point of view is quite rational. I like it.

I think that China shot itself in the foot with these riots, at least as far as the internaitonal comunity is concerned.
One minute people are wathing pictures of Muslims burning the American flag and shouting death to America, and the next minute thay are seeing Chinese burning the Japanese flag and shouting death to Japan.
Do you think that foreigners note the difference between the two? Not likely. It made the Chiense look like a rabble in the eyes of foreigners.
If China wants to be ‘the good guy’ in the eyes of foreigners, it is going to have to negotiate with Japan. It doesn’t matter how wicked Japan was during WWII, or how much it is ignoring the issue today. Unless China deals with this diplomatically, the world is going to see China as being unreasonable and thus as being ‘the bad guy’.
After seeing Chinese ransack Japanese businesses (many of which were actually Chinese owned stores selling japanese food or goods) because of a history book that NOBODY in Japan believes, and which is used in only a handfull of schools (many of which are for blind or deaf children who are using them because they are free), many foreigners actually felt sorry for Japan.

Hello. My name is John and I am !CANADIAN!
Had to throw that in.
There is nothing wrong with Protests what so ever. How you go about this is a differnt story. Burning flags? This adds tension to an already tense situation.
I don`t think China looks like the bad guy out of this, the world knows to history of WW2 and understands Chinas resentment towards Japans denial of what happend during ww2. Germany owed up to its past, so should Japan. Many terrible things happend to many people from many countrys in ww2 these can be forgiven but not forgotten, or denied!
Future protests should be peaceful, its would be hard to legitamize Chinas feelings towards Japan when violence is used to get your point across.
People in China should protest until Japan steps up and says sorry!
As far as what do I think of Japan… Japan is a good example of a good friend and ally in the international community which reinforces its need to own-up to save face. Just because Japan is a responsible player in the world now doesnt forgive or forget its past and obligations. I Hope one day Japan and China can solve this issue diplomatically.
Well thats my 2 cents for what its worth.
